LOVE IS VICTOR IN ALL CONDITIONS 

It gladden me to receive a copy of SUNRISE TO SUNSET by S.L. Peeran, my long-time poet friend.  Despite several debilitating health issues, Peeran's 46th book is an inspiration to persons of our age -- we are both born in 1950 -- who have been experiencing steep physical and mental decline and losing interest in reading and writing. Salute to Peeran's diverse creativity  -- poetry, Short stories, memoirs, editing, and publishing -- the muse in him is still active, reflecting "inner urges, turmoils,  questionings, joys, ecstasies,  sorrows, and keen observations of society, " as he recalls in the Preface to his 30th poetry book.  

I pleasantly discover that the poet does not write with a plan to write on a particular topic in mind: topics emerge through his thinking on the page. And, he is rich in thoughts that are personal yet universal, worldly yet uplifting, immediate yet timeless, human yet divine. Without being rote, Peeran develops the thread of each idea from one line to the other in a tone and texture that bespeak his Sufi saintly sensibility and world view. Poem after poem he embues the poetic moments with meditation, reflection and prayer.

Let's celebrate the newst work of India's only English poet who has been consistently producing Sufi poetry and enriching the genre with his wisdom, reflections, and experiences of the amalgamating Indian life,  culture, and philosophy  sans artificially or deliberate claptrap.
