TWO POEMS published on DOUBLE SPEAK Magazine

    TWO POEMS

Mystery

I’m still on nodding terms with days I hardly relish

except for memories of sex and poetry books

that’s me in stuckness in bits and pieces

howsoever dwarfed or doomed today

I grope the mystery that couldn’t be living:

autumn with songs of unbloomed spring

restive stillness mocking on the curtains

naked beings lying with blinder on the eyes

the lost moon in curse of tears never shed

the short grace period is no breather

to manoeuvre the words shelled in the skin

or turn oracular to light the vale

If i could pay

Luck awaits me

if I could buy it from

her miracle store

she gives me three dates

for her call to reach

the higher cosmic forces

she dreams me stand

in the middle of a

tree-lined park

against saffron flowers

flashes of light focus

on my serene face

the shower of gold tempts

a being of light descends

I’m offered a new life

divine abundance

defeat of enemies

and stream of love

if I could pay

for her rituals of

angelic magic

A short review of WANDERING WORDS

I have known Prabhat Kumar Singh since the 1990s as a distinguished academic, besides being a prominent Indian English poet, critic, and translator from Gaya in Bihar. It's so nice of him to have sent me his latest collection of poems WANDERING WORDS: POEMS (ISBN 978-93-6095-461-1) published recently by Authors Press,  New Delhi.  I enjoyed reading it.

Prabhat's poetry demonstrates a profound understanding of human experience, weaving together intellect and emotion in a way that resonates deeply with readers. His grasp of tradition and modernity in quotidian life, keen observations with authenticity and depth, and literary significance deserves wider audience and recognition.  As noted elsewhere, he delivers "his punches with velvet gloves spreading a set of scintillating images and metaphors."

I feel proud to join him in his revelations of human reality and  creating a harmonious and civilised society through words.

Feminist Notes published in The Cultural Reverence

 The Cultural Reverence

Feminist Notes — A Poem by R.K. Singh, India

 Vol. VII ; No.3 ; September, 2025

Feminist Notes

Intentionally layered
internally fragmented
queer antics:

she builds up her own
sexual toolkit to prove
how coward man is

she sees a rapist
in each man detests
the male smell but trusts
one night stand
with deep thrust
long erections
and climax control
for blood to soak smoothly

she sits shrouded
in her see-through pink gown
on the terrace
inviting autumn winds
for longer stopover
just to accuse the artist
of invading her body

she curses a young bull
for obstructing her way
in the street,
shouts at hawkers

and, yet another
at eighty reimagines
fading memories
with snaky radiance
to break a new dawn

my friend says
the dynamics change:
there’s a before
and an after
to feel life

I say yes, but I’m tired
of walking and writing
what I watch

I’m no tout to comfort
or restore the faith
of a dwindling flock in heat
culling is convenient.

HAIKU published in PORCH LITMAG, Septrmber 2025

https://porch-litmag.com/five-erotic-haiku/

Five Erotic Haiku

by R. K. Singh

her disheveled hair
delight in disorder –
bittersweet flings

too inviting
her curvier lines –
décolleté blouse

lips to toes
searching touch all night
sheets flutter

on her back
write with hair a light poem –
weight of love

after a tumble
buried between the sheets
leftover passion

My new haiku book from Romania

It has been a great experience,  despite my initial hesitation, to collaborate with poet-editor Taner Murat in making an ambitious multilingual haiku book. It's for the first time I have tried to translate haiku from English to Hindi. Trust, the book 44 TWIN STEPS CONSTANTA-YOKOHOMA 1977-2021 published by Anticus Press, Constanta,  Romania will be received favourably by audiences all over the world. The accompanying video version of Hindi haiku (by Priti Singh ) provides the book an added value.
